wow, have I been quiet or what?

Here's the irony, I may not have been writing much and talking with all of you but I have literally been talking the entire time to most everyone else! I've been working at the Cleveland Auto Show as an announcer for the Inside Track with Chevy. I was on the mic for about 45 per hour and my days were mostly 13 hour shifts! By the time I was done, I was sick of hearing my own voice. I'm very happy to say that job is over and my next stint is in St. Louis tomorrow through Friday. I'll be working for Nissan Commercial Vehicles at a trade show. The hours will not be as grueling and there will be no narration. I expect it will feel like a walk in the park. Yippee!

As for A to Z, last we "spoke" I was shooting the "C" scene. It went VERY well. I was on fire. I did take after take and it felt really good. This however, did not give me the feeling of confidence you might expect. I just never know what to expect. Good news I think that might soon change. My sister, TT, gave me the most amazing present that will make all the difference. She gave me a flip camera. It is a video camera that I can use for blogging, credits videos, updates... whatever. I plan to also utilize it for rehearsals. What I will do is record myself acting out a scene that I'm working on and then direct myself so that by the time I actually shoot the scene I will know what feels AND looks good. Is that awesome or what? Thank you, thank you, thank you, TT. What a wonderful sister.

OK, so back to the "C" scene. The movie is "A Cry in the Dark". For those of you who know the film, the dingo DID eat her baby. Prior to watching this film my ONLY reference to it was the Seinfeld episode where Elaine makes fun of an over the top woman at a party who was looking for her boyfriend that she referred to as her baby to which Elaine replied, "maybe the dingo at your baby" in an Australian accent. So, here was my chance to find out the meaning behind the Seinfeld joke. The character I play is Lindy Chamberlain. It is a true story of a family that went camping, only to have her baby eaten by a dingo (a wild Australian dog). I wrote to Lindy recently and hope to hear from her soon. The airing of this C installment will be March 14 and I'm am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO relieved to say it has already been edited.

About the editing: Jay Kim did my editing and gave me the most tremendous present. As you may remember, we shot the "B" scene on Monday. We were editing from 11 AM to 5:14 AM the next couple of days. It finally got posted after 12 hours of attempts the following day at approximately 5:45 PM on Wednesday. Thursday, therefore is when we shot it. I worked the evening on Thursday at the Cleveland Auto Show. So the plan was to begin editing that night. We made attempts to work on it until about 1 AM, BUT no luck. I went to sleep utterly exhausted. Jay crashed on my couch. We planned to tackle the problem sometime over the weekend or even today, Monday. However, I woke up the next day for work and Jay said, I have a present for you. He had EDITED the entire scene. As a side note, I had been thinking that I might want to re-shoot. I was second guessing my acting and the pace of my delivery. So here I was about to deliver bad news to him and he said he had good news for me. I watched his work. Truly, 90% of my apprehensions were gone. That was an incredible turn of events. I had a few changes to make but really what he did was unbelievable. What a miracle! I had tears in my eyes on my way to work. We wanted to make the final changes Friday evening after work but decided instead to wake up early and do it in the AM. On Saturday morning, after a 13 hour Friday, we did the final touches. I like the scene.

I'm not sure if you will enjoy it but it is my first accent and a brand new one for me. It is a monologue with ALL Nancy and not much of anyone else. It is a powerful piece about Lindy's frustration with the accusation against her. I have to be content in our work and let it go. Thank goodness. This take the phrase, it's all good, to a new level.
