Every day I take a shower. This should come as no surprise to you nor should it make you think that I'm limited to one per day but my point is, that's where I do my big thinking. It's the place where I prepare my "to do" list and as I let the water wash over me, I open up my mind to new avenues. I visualize the best happening. I rehearse what I would say to Meryl if she called. I imagine sitting across from Ellen and how that might go and then I get dressed and remember about 1/3 of the ideas that came to me in the shower. Does this mean I need a waterproof writing board? Hmm, not sure. One thing I can say is if life all came together like my shower thoughts, it would be a great existence!
My latest idea was to contact every major talk show including but not limited to: Oprah, Ellen, Letterman, Craig Ferguson, Tyra, and so on and get my story out there! Truth is there's still a big part of me that thinks it would be way better to have someone else call because for me to say it's newsworthy or interesting is like a person saying, "I'm really funny". Did you ever notice that when people are self proclaimed funny, they never really are? Truly funny people simply make you laugh, ya know? They say things that make the milk come through your nose and cause you to do a spit take. That's their job. So that brings me back to needing PR help. I'm doing the best I can but I know there's better, way better, out there.
Here are all the maybes that have come my way but not flowered yet:
• BW faculty member was going to line me up with a PR intern for the summer.
• BW student expressed interest in helping but said she lives far away, when I said that's ok, never heard back.
• Friend from college said he has a friend who owes him a favor and he would call it in, never heard again.
• Another friend said he wanted to hire someone who specifically does PR for me, but forgot he said it.
• That man I emailed 5 times who said contact me after June 1, was contacted by me but nada.
• My friend Kelly, referred me to a wonder woman who works for an online mag of sorts, emailed her and zip.
• Friend said he would contact a local newspaper but wanted to wait until I did a few more scenes, but nope.
• PR friend said she has actual ideas for me but our schedules have not meshed and I can't get a return call.
I don't mean to sound ungrateful because I'm really not but I would love love love for any one of these mentions to actually begin happening. I'm still doing my own reaching out and just emailed to people from WKYC to see if I can get some notice there. Of course, I do feel that to some extent I've reached Cleveland and would like to branch out. It would be awesome to get on a show or in a paper in NYC, where Meryl lives.
One thing I did do on my own was go on IMDB.com and add some trivia to Meryl's profile. It hasn't been accepted yet but I think it's interesting that she has a year long project all dedicated to her work and brilliance, don't you? I imagine that the IMDB team will review the information and have to look me up to verify. Then I hope that someone will pass it to Meryl's agent and her agent will send it to Meryl and she'll call me. I hope she knows to go to my website because there are about 500 links to my email where she could hit me up anytime or anywhere. Actually, I know that Meryl is not into social networking like facebook, twitter etc but I'm hoping she does partake in some emailing. Oh gosh, I'm way over thinking it all!
