I'm so excited about yesterday and today. Yesterday was my shoot for the Q scene. We got the perfect location just the day before. I got the costume and wig the day of the shoot. The cast and crew were in place but as you know, there was some apprehension on my part. Truthfully, not every scene brings this thought but the ones where I think Meryl Streep nailed it better than anyone in the world, you know her most exquisite performances, well ... they rattle me. This role, in Prime, Meryl did to such perfection and her comedic timing was impeccable so to recreate the scene, not steal from her and yet have it be good was quite the undertaking. Yep, Q is for quite the accomplishment because I do believe that it's a pretty darn good scene. It will be posted here within the hour, as well as on my facebook fan page, facebook home page, twitter, my website, The Meryl Streep Forum and of course on my youtube channel, first and foremost. I'm soooo excited. I love doing comedy and there was so much to find funny in this scene.
A little disclaimer, there are some clinical terms that I suppose could offend in the context of the scene so if that rattles your cage, tell a friend to watch it for you and skip over those parts. What's so funny about the scene is the therapist, (my role) must listen to her patient tell all the details of her new relationship but my character has figured out that she is talking about my son. Here's what I mean. As I counsel this patient to explore a new relationship with a younger man, telling her to enjoy it because life's too short, I discover that the younger man she's talking about is my SON. The scene is the follow up session to my discovery but of course my patient has NO IDEA that I know who she's talking about and doesn't know that he is MY son. Hilarity ensues. To top it all off, my character is Jewish and my patient is a gentile, just another little ingredient to add to the mix.
Well, the shoot went very well. The location was so perfect and looks just as I imagined before ever working on the scene. Jean Zarzour loaned her house to us and after a long shoot she had been on in Detroit, swept in to straighten my wig and do some other quick styling before her well deserved nap. More thanks are coming your way Jeannie but I so appreciate all that you provided. Jeannie's brother. David, let me in the house and it all was awesome. Then the edit was great. Devon and I working together again was like an old comfortable shoe ... it just fits. He can read my mind half the time and the other half, he's willing to make the changes to keep me thrilled with the scene. I just can't wait for you to see it. I hope you love it as much as I did making it.
