How it went, how it's going, is it snowing?
Well, Marvin's Room is in the can. Molly did a wonderful job and it is 6:00 AM and we're still editing. We couldn't get the editing system until about 9PM so the start of the edit wasn't until 9:30. First all the footage has to be loaded and then the edit begins. That takes a very long time, to say the least.
My eyes were brown and still are for that matter so let's just get that out of the way. I like our costume choices, both perfect for the characters. Her kitchen was lovely, more so than the kitchen in the film but I'm not complaining. Molly's boyfriend was kind enough to shovel the driveway for us and the dog, Bob, was wonderful. As for the edit, more on that later.
I hope I get some sleep before we launch into the Silkwood scene which we are shooting TODAY. While we were waiting for the footage to load, I did a lot of thinking about location, costumes, extras, blocking and overall content of that scene. Since Karen Silkwood is not a fictional character I want to be sure to do the story a true justice. I've already taken some license with it in the sense that I'm performing the scene indoors versus outside as was done in the movie. Truth be told, I haven't seen any evidence beyond the movie that would indicate it actually did take place outside so maybe that was the filmmaker's moment to take license.
I know some of my readers like to wake up and check out the blog but personally, I like to sleep before I write it. If I'm in any way incoherent, well, you'll know why. Say it with me loud and clear ... Mama needs her rest. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, OH WAIT, I can't sleep, there's still sound and music and color correction. Oh MY!
One more thing ... I have been debating on which Karen Silkwood haircut to have for today's shoot and I have decided to give a haircut to an old wig that I formerly destroyed giving it a haircut. Wish me luck. Let's hope I'm better at cutting hair than I am at inserting contact lenses.
Still editing at 7:52 AM. I think we're close though ... sorta.
