The N scene is one of my favorites. It could be because my daughter was in it with me. It could be because it was playful and funny. It could be because it has by far the best last line in any of my scripts. Or it could be because it all went so darn smoothly from shooting, to editing to location. Well, here I go again premature thankulation. Let's begin!
Spencer Jay Kim shot and edited this piece. You'll notice that the scene has an orange tint to it and I just LOVE it. Also, while he doesn't call himself a shooter per se, he recreated the same sensation in the movie where you feel as though you're sitting in the middle of the room with these three ladies. Not to toot Jay's horn but here I go tootin - also not a phrase you normally want to hear ;-) Robert Altman directed A Prairie Home Companion when Meryl Streep was in it and Robert is known for using 3 or 4 cameras in any given scene so that the feeling can be truly active. Boy, Jay would have said that much better but you get the point. When Jay shot this scene he used ONLY one camera and managed to achieve that same feeling! How impressive is that? Jay is a screenplay writer and has directed some of his own films but does not call himself a director of photography or a lighting expert yet just take a look at this scene. A Prairie Home CompanioN. To hire Jay for crew or acting contact him at jkimgant@hotmail.com.
Julie Fogel played my hilarious sister/duet partner, Rhonda. Julie is a local actor who does voice over, stage, on camera, you name it. She also is in a band called "Generation Gap". She sings in the band so bless her heart for having the patience to work with me singing. Julie was instrumental in getting us our location. She brought along all of her own props and worked independently on her accent to perfect her role as Rhonda. She is such a pleasure to work with, prepared and easy going. What more can you ask for? To see their band website go to http://www.myspace.com/generationgapband and to hire Julie for work on your next project email her at juliefogel@yahoo.com.
Cassandra Telzerow is my daughter. She brought hilarity on and off screen to every moment. Is she interested in acting? She says no. Did she like it? Um, yes I would say so even if she didn't admit it. She did a wonderful job and if you'd like to tell her so, you better email me because somehow I cannot post my own daughter's email for the world to see. ntorq@aol.com Always the mama, you know! I love you, Cassie Lynne.
Location was the Cleveland Play House. Well, was that ideal or what? Julie Fogel used to work there so when I came up with the idea of using the Play House she guided me to Merlin Detardo. Merlin was eager to offer this venue and gave us a variety of choices as to where we could shoot. He also planted signs in the hallway for us so we could have quiet. We were truly spoiled. The facility was sheer perfection and we owe it all to Merlin who was so accommodating and The Cleveland Play House which has been providing professional theater for years in Cleveland, Ohio. To see live theater go to their website at www.clevelandplayhouse.com. Currently, "The Kite Runner" is playing in the Bolton Theater in October and November. Go see the show!
Terri Negron has been responsible for posting nearly every single scene that you see online or on my website. Even the G scene which could not be posted on youtube was stratically placed on my website by Terri. Every other week she takes several stills from the video, sends them to me and asks what image I would like to use on my facebook page, fan page, youtube channel, website and blog. She then posts the actual videos in a all of those locations. So you see, just getting the scenes out their alone is quite a job. Additionally, nearly every darn picture you see on this blog, every live link, and even every underline is artistically done by Terri. If you would like that kind of attention to detail on your next project, email her at terri@fengshui5.com
Additional thanks go to:
Jay for driving so far to do my scenes and meticulously spending every waking moment to make them perfect.
Merlin Detardo who was so helpful to us for the location. He truly made it an overall pleasant experience.
Jimmy Silver for his continued support and use of his studio for my various A to Z needs.
Old Brown Dog who died so quickly causing us to just sing two versus. On behalf of all who listened, woof!
